27 - Avengers: Inifinity War

Is it possible to watch Avengers: Infinity War as if no other Marvel movies exist? Hosts Christian Hagen, Matthew Bahn, and David Gutsche try their best in this epic episode of Contextual Deviants!

26 - A Christmas Carol

Happy Holidays, everyone! (Yes, despite the subject of the episode, we're proudly fighting the War on Christmas.) For our last episode of 2018, we've decided to warm our cold hearts with Charles Dickens' classic tale, A Christmas Carol. Specifically, we watched the 1984 edition starring Academy Award Winner George C. Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge, which is a very faithful adaptation of the original story, so even if you haven't seen this particular version, you should be able to follow along just fine. Join hosts Christian Hagen, David Gutsche, and Matthew Bahn on this spooky-sweet adventure!

Highlights include: Baby Santa, a great new game that was definitely invented on purpose by David Gutsche, a dark trio of directors, Spoopy Time, mind-blowing trivia, another Christmas movie, Mean Ghosts, the shortest context ever, bad hot takes, and much much more!

25 - Kung Fu Panda

Shrek left a bad taste in our mouths, so we decided to follow it up with the much more palatable Dreamworks Animated film Kung Fu Panda! You'll positively noodle yourself as hosts Christian Hagen and David Gutsche, along with special guest Joe Swanson, dig deep and try to find the secret ingredients to this kids' action classic's success.

Highlights Include: Get Off My Show Russell Crowe, disappointing noodle dad, lipstick on a snake, putting the dump in dumplings, The Pull of the Noodle, too much cheek, too little face, probably the weirdest context-to-movie pairing we've ever had, and much more!

24 - Shrek

They recently announced a reboot by the Minion people (sorry if this is news to you), so the hosts of Contextual Deviants decided to Shrex their muscles and analyze the original, 2001's Shrek. Christian Hagen and David Gutsche wind their way through this weird and (let's be honest) gross pop culture phenomenon and dig past the memes to the dark heart of the mean green ogre himself.

Highlights include: "Shrekmate, atheists," fairy tale ghettos, fairy tale sexual harassment, fairy tale bullying, Eddie Murphy's donkey vacation, the Mandela Effect, the most consistent theme of Contextual Deviants, and much more!

23 - Boogie Nights

Contextual Deviants has some super f*** action to the max, Jack, as hosts Christian Hagen, Matthew Bahn, and David Gutsche take on 1997's Boogie Nights! The rise and fall of Dirk Diggler and his legendary "star power" are illuminated like never before, featuring four randomly selected contexts that guide us down paths we could have never expected.

Highlights include: David's spot-on Elton John, fascinating trivia, the Top Gun, the inspiring true story of "The Touch," a great gun-based rom-com, an even better impression of Michael Caine, A BRAND NEW CONTEXT, and much more!

22 - The Shining

Welcome, treasured guests, to the first ever Contextual Deviants Halloween Spoopytime Film Fearstival! Hosts Christian Hagen, Matthew Bahn, and David Gutsche take four totally original takes on one of the most over-analyzed horror movies of all time, Stanley Kubrick's 1980 thriller The Shining. Highlights include: Frights, a long pause, a very twee remake, our original and totally trademarked idea for a Shining series (TM), Dog is the opiate of the masses, and much more!

21 - Stardust

An underappreciated fantasy gem currently streaming on Netflix gets the Contextual Deviants treatment. Hosts Christian Hagen and David Gutsche...and (SPOILER!)...band together to explore Neil Gaiman's silly-sweet story in several surprising styles.

Highlights Include: Gandhi (the little cool guy from history), a superhero version of Rosie the Riveter, the logical conclusion of Maybeline's ad campaign, SSPPBB, the ultimate incel fantasy, sky oxygen problems, Better Call Ditchwater Sal, and much more!
